Seychelles

An idyllic country made up of 115 islands stretched across the Indian Ocean between 480km and 1,600km from the east coast of Africa, the Seychelles conjures up visions of pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. In fact, yes - some of the world’s most picturesque beaches can be found here but there is also so much more to marvel at. With over 1,000 endemic species of flora and fauna, including the erotically shaped Coco de Mer palm nut, the Seychelles boasts the highest protected landmass in the world (48%) with an additional 32% of marine territory also protected. A small nation with a melting pot of cultures with European, African & Asian influence, the islands offer the opportunity to experience truly authentic Creole cuisine and entertainment, including the locally brewed Takamaka sugar-care rum, seriously tasty and spicy curries and incredibly colourful dancing. Sitting outside the cyclone belt, the country enjoys temperatures of 25-32° (77-90F) all year round making it an ideal getaway for nature lovers, sun-seekers and xenophiles alike.

"The Seychelles archipelago is a place like no other and another world entirely. A land of pristine beauty unaltered since the dawn of time.  Islands where magnificent granite boulders amongst the oldest on Earth, flank powder-soft beaches often rated among the most beautiful on the planet. Seychelles remains one of the purest, most environmentally intact destinations offering a great diversity of experiences and a unique flora and fauna seen nowhere else on earth."

Karen Confait, Seychelles Tourism BOard
